Join our Durham team to help pack BackPack Buddies! We're looking for individuals and small teams (2 to 14 people) to assemble BPB for our monthly school distributions.
Where to Park?
Location: 2436 S. Miami Blvd. Ste. 200-9, Durham, NC 27703.
The Food Shuttle is located in the back right corner of the parking lot. Free parking is available in the gravel lot, marked by a volunteer parking sign.
Where to Check-In?
Please arrive on time and enter through the main entrance. In the lobby, you will meet our warehouse staff for an orientation before heading back to the warehouse.
Dress Code/What to Bring?
You must wear CLOSED-TOE/HEEL SHOES. We recommend bringing a water bottle.
Tasks
Expect light to medium lifting and unpacking/packing food. For organization and consistency, volunteers will form an assembly line to pack individual BPB with a variety of non-perishable food items to be distributed to students in need of food assistance. Volunteers will be assigned to certain tasks to complete the packing process. It is important that quality checks are thoroughly done throughout the packing, and volunteers must adhere to proper food safety practices.
Other duties may be assigned by our Warehouse Manager depending on the needs of the day.
Youth Policy
All volunteers must be 13 years old to volunteer. Minors 16 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult. If volunteering as a group, we ask for a 1:4 adult-to-youth ratio and all chaperones must sign up and work alongside their youth volunteers. Our Child Food Hub Policies and Procedures outline the age restrictions here.
