Volunteer Position:

We're seeking individual volunteers to help inspect and prepare eggs for food distribution at the Vernon Malone Center (Food Shuttle main location) in Raleigh, NC. Volunteers will be trained on how to properly use a egg candler light to detect infractions and inspect quality of eggs. 

Things to Know: 

  • To ensure accurate volunteer capacity and to provide proper social distancing among volunteers, all volunteers must be registered prior to volunteer date(s). *If accompanied by an additional person (must be related), please contact us prior to your scheduled dates for approval. In addition, please make sure your phone number is listed on your volunteer account
  • All volunteers must arrive at the front entrance to be checked-in and receive a safety briefing and temperature check by program staff.
  • All volunteers are required to wear a mask and gloves during volunteer activity. In addition, all volunteers must sanitize their hands before putting on gloves and face mask. 

Qualifications:

  • Must be 12+ years old.  Under 16 must be accompanied by an over 18 year old adult. Note: If you are related, you can register together (must be 2 people max). Contact Volunteer Services via email at volunteers@foodshuttle.org or call (919) 250-0043 for approval. 
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
  • Must wear closed-toe/heel shoes - no high heels.
  • Must review and sign Food Shuttle safety protocol and waiver.
