Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is delighted to CONTINUE our partnership with Food Lion Feeds and WRAL's Nights of Lights, and to receive canned food donations from attendees of the light show on December 10.
Volunteers will work in small teams to collect cans of food from attendees of Nights of Lights, directly from their vehicles at the start of the light show route; distribute Food Lion gift cards; and use provided wagons to move food donations to large bins or a Food Shuttle truck onsite.
Volunteers must be mobile enough to move quickly and safely between cars and bins with bags of food. You will be on your feet a lot!
While we would love to say "the more the merrier," feedback from 2021 was that we had too many volunteers; therefore we ask that you respect our volunteer capacity.
For your comfort, we'll have some snacks, hot drinks, water, and access to port-o-johns. We'll have enough people to rotate through breaks as needed. And as a perk you'll be able to drive through the light show at the end of the night! Please dress in layers and for the weather! Optional: bring a chair and travel mug.
You will be assigned to work at the VIP entrance OR the General Admission entrance. You will be notified of your assignment and be sent a map closer to date, indicating where to park and meet. Regardless, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ARRIVE BY 4:30 PM AT your designated assignment and report to the Food Shuttle truck that THE FOOD SHUTTLE TRUCK THAT WILL BE PARKED NEARBY. (Do NOT report to the Food Shuttle office/warehouse.)
THERE IS ONE SHIFT FOR THE ENTIRE EVENT. IT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE TO ARRIVE LATE OR LEAVE EARLY DUE TO SAFETY AND TRAFFIC FLOW.
*Be sure to wear closed toe/heel shoes.
