Carriage House - Senior Grocery Deliveries (GROUPS ONLY)

Expired

Description

Grocery Bags for Seniors supplements the fixed income of our older community members through door-to door distribution of fresh produce and groceries. Seniors face unique challenges: lack of access to transportation, functional limitations, and health problems. Inter-Faith Food Shuttle works with a series of volunteers to help pack almost 2,000 grocery bags a month with fresh produce, non-perishable food, and healthy snacks then deliver to numerous senior housing communities in Wake and Durham county. These groceries can provide up to 8 nutritious meals for seniors.

Volunteer Position:

We are seeking small groups ONLY between 2-5 people to provide a “NO-CONTACT” door to door distribution of groceries bags to Carriage House Senior Apartments. Using their own personal vehicles, volunteer drivers will report to the Food Shuttle location (1001 Blair Drive, Ste. 120, Raleigh, NC 27603) to pick up 100 prepacked groceries bags, receive their route (s), and distribute door to door at senior site (s). Shift time is from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm; however if prefer morning shift (11:00 am -1:00 pm) , please contact Chasity Newkirk, Senior Nutrition Program Manager via email at chasity@foodshuttle.org for approval.
